Omega Speedmaster gasket replacement
This was a rather unusual example of case back gasket degradation that we rarely see, where the black rubber gasket has melted into a useless goo on a 60s vintage pre-moon landing Speedmaster manual wind chronograph due to lack of proper maintenance.
It didn’t take us too long to clear out the gasket channel and replace it with a fresh new one protecting a very valuable and collectible watch. This was part of a full mechanical movement service but serves as a good example as to why regular watch resealing and servicing is required.
